AdChoiceTV News — Angèle Kossinda of Cameroon has heaped praises for the Filipino fashion student from Isabela who designed her national costume for the Miss Universe pageant.
On Tuesday, the beauty queen shared screenshots of news headlines that reported 20-year-old student Kennedy Jhon Gasper as her designer.
“I m overwhelmed by the Filipino and media for the support,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Indeed a national costume represents your country s legacy, culture and image. And to me the most important thing is to find someone who could best represent it in an outfit or costume no matter your origins. This is what we learn from beauty pageant–inclusion, tolerance, unity!” she said.
“So yes a Filipino designer has made my national costume. We have to remember that he is a very young talented man who also deserves this opportunity.”
The candidate from Cameroon also said that apart from Kennedy, other Filipinos had also designed for her and mentored her for the pageant.
“There s a big love story between the Philippines, Filipino fans, and me. And that is since 2017,” she said.
Earlier this week, the Central Luzon State University announced on social media that Kennedy, one of its students, was chosen to design Angèle s national costume.
Kennedy is a third year student taking up a bachelor s degree course in fashion and textile technology with a major in fashion designing.
Angèle is among more than 70 candidates vying for the Miss Universe 2020 crown. The much awaited pageant will be held on May 16 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
