AdChoiceTV News — A Texas woman just found out about a decades-old felony charge against her – all over a rented VHS tape taken out in her name and never returned.
“The first thing she told me was felony embezzlement, so, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack.”
Caron McBride told AdChoiceTV News that she found out she was a wanted felon over a VHS tape of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” that was rented and unreturned at a Norman, Oklahoma, movie rental shop in 2000. The business closed in 2008.
McBride told the AdChoiceTV News that she’s never even watched “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” She believes her boyfriend at the time may have rented it in her name for his young daughters and never returned it.
Even though the business has closed long ago, the warrant for her arrest was still active when she discovered it.
While the Cleveland County District Attorney’s office dismissed the case this week, McBride still needs to have the case expunged to clear her record.
